Studio Warner Bros. Television says a report that both sides are in talks at this time is false, sources say
Charlie Sheen won’t be returning to CBS’ Two and a Half Men anytime soon.
Producers Warner Bros. Television denied a TV Guide magazine report indicating that Sheen reached out — and the studio reached back — about his return for the final season of the Chuck Lorre comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Sheen told the publication that both sides are “trying to figure out what makes the most sense” for the beleaguered actor to reprise his role as Charlie Harper.
Sheen was famously fired from the show in 2011 after his public feud with prolific producer Lorre, the network and the studio.
The Anger Management star reached out to Lorre via Twitter in 2013, writing that he had an idea that the showrunner needed to hear “after I make amends to you and yours,” adding that he planned to do so in person. (Lorre is not on Twitter.) Nothing came from the post.
CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler told reporters in July that the network is not having conversations with Sheen about making a return to the comedy.
Sheen’s comments come as FX’s 10/90 comedy Anger Management is nearing the end of its 100-episode run.
